BMW USA Spartanburg Factory Celebrates 25th Anniversary

1994 marks the year BMW opened its first U.S. facility in Spartanburg, South Carolina. In just two decades, the company earned exponential success, manufacturing beloved models such as the BMW Z3 Roadster. Today, the establishment is responsible for producing best-sellers from the BMW X lineup, and this year it celebrates its 25th anniversary.

  • It was the automaker's first full manufacturing plant outside of Germany.
  • The first vehicle it constructed was a white, BMW 318i on September 8, 1994.

  • In total, it has built over 3.9 million vehicles since its grand opening.
