BMW X5 vs. BMW X6
Design
Known as the lineup's original Sports Activity Vehicle®, the BMW X5 is a five-passenger SUV offering 23 to 72 cubic feet of cargo space. Showing off a coupe-like roofline and wider stance while retaining SUV-level comfort, the BMW X6 is a Sports Activity Coupe® seating five passengers and flexing from 27 to 60 cubic feet of cargo space. Both new BMWs come with a panoramic moonroof and Sensafin upholstery and offer illuminated kidney grilles.
Performance
Each BMW has a maximum towing capacity of 7,200 pounds. The BMW X5 earns 27 highway miles per gallon on the Lawrence Expressway, while the BMW X6 earns 26 highway miles per gallon on I-280 and the San Thomas Expressway. Powered by BMW TwinPower Turbo 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder engines, both the X5 and the X6 output 375 standard horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque. The X5 lets San Jose families travel more efficiently with its 58 MPGe rating and 31 miles of range, enough to head from home to Alum Rock Park or to the Monterey Bay Aquarium on pure electric power. Twin-turbocharged V8 engines are available for the X5 and X6.
Tech
For the 2024 model year, both the X5 and the X6 welcome the BMW Curved Display and the latest iDrive 8 Operating System paired with BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, along with standard wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility. The X6 has larger screens through a 14.9-inch Central Information Display and a 12.3-inch Digital Instrument Cluster.
