There's now just one powertrain option, as the BMW M5 Sedan switches to exclusive plug-in hybrid power. A secondary body style, a wagon model with the Touring label, is set to make its debut to the M5 family.

The M Hybrid powertrain is the lone option, and that's not a problem, as electric drive and a robust M TwinPower Turbo V8 engine combine to generate 717 horsepower, thrusting you into the back of your seat as you accelerate down the Lawrence Expressway through San Jose or El Camino Real through Sunnyvale. With an improved electric range of 25 miles, the 2025 BMW M5 can motor around San Jose and not use any fuel.

The M5 has an M Hybrid powertrain that combines a 194-horsepower electric motor with a high-performance M TwinPower Turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine. Make it from Sunnyvale to San Jose and back on pure electric power with the 25 miles of range provided by the M5 Sedan through its BMW eDrive system.
